NASA's has engaged nine commercial companies to explore logistics and operations on Mars. While these are small contracts, they show a continued trend of commercialised procurement from NASA, now extending to other planets. This "Exploring Mars Together: Commercial Services Studies" program focuses on leveraging private sector innovation for delivering payloads, imaging, and communications services to augment Mars missions. By adapting existing technologies for Martian environments, like modified lunar OTVs, landers, and satellites, NASA aims to enhance efficiency and reduce costs in space exploration.
